What a great Celebration
Weekend! The new camping/caravan area provided a comfortable area for those who stayed, some for a week or more and it has now been well worked and proven in it's ability to cope with numbers, a great new feature for the Principality and it's many visitors. Messages of congratulations have begun to arrive as people return home and much of the congratulations go to those who prepared and served the foods and drinks etc that were available over the weekend and those same people who provided the fantastic menu's for the various commemorative meals held during the celebration. I am pleased to report that everything went according to plan, no major problems arose and the Principality coped well with a large number of people attending at various times over the weekend. All aproaching events over the weekend were
announced quite publicly by the bell, voice and talents of the
Principality's own award winning Town Crier, Hon Maggie Harding who flew in
from her home in Adelaide to participate and share with the Royal Family in
their celebrations. The new Mini-Golf area was most popular with both kids and adults alike and a lot of fun was hade there, though one problem arose that no-one had even thought to consider and that was the scoring of "hole-in-one's" as that was deemed "impossible" but was achieved by not only one adult but by two children under 12! so certificates had to be very quickly whipped up to commemorate such an achievement. The musical entertainment provided at various times over the weekend by the Batavia Coast Pipe Band, the Geraldton City Band, the great duo "Local Dose" and last but not least the professional entertainment provided by John Gall went down outstandingly well and it was great to hear the Principality alive with music and if that were not enough, at various times Local Dose and John Gall stepped down to allow visiting guests to get up and also provide performances such as the fantastic voice of Mrs Tam McKeown, and the surprising skills of a visiting Sociologist, Dr Judy Lattas from Macquarie University who played a number of Irish tunes beautifully on her Penny Whistle. The Chapel of Nain was filled to capacity with visitors for the largest Investiture held in the Chapel for many, many years and a rare event for the public to get to view and a large crowd also awaited outside for everyone to exit the Chapel for the march past by the Geraldton City Band whilst HRH Prince Leonard took the salute with sons Crown Prince Ian and Prince Richard alongside him of the steps of the Government Offices. The presence of a European documentary film crew throughout the Celebrations created some interest, particularly amongst the public, if not a little discomfort at times for some of us who were trying to celebrate and at the same time having to have some degree of concern for that ever present camera and microphone. A surprise highlight of the many events that
took place over the weekend and one that certainly cannot be ignored nor
forgotten, was a presentation made to HRH Prince Leonard by Sir Albert Caine
KRO. We will be publishing a number of photos of
the weekend, please bear in mind that the Webmaster has taken these shots in
a "mood of celebration" so they maintain the feel of candid snaps rather
than formal poses and were taken simply to record as many parts of the
actual events as possible rather than to provide a sterile set-up of formal
shots. Should any wish a copy of a particular photo seen on this site then
please contact the webmasters office and we will be only to happy to see if
we can supply a higher resolution image by e-mail on request.

Members of the Royal Enfield Club of Australia Inc are net in Geraldton and led back to the Principality with the film crew accompanying. On arrival at the Principality the members were informally greeted by HRH Prince Leonard who was introduced to the Club Officers on the steps of the Government Building before the Members headed down to the new camping area to set-up tents and vans etc for the duration of their stay. HRH Prince Leonard is Patron of the Royal Enfield Club of Australia Inc and he had been looking forward to the Club arrival and meeting the members who travelled such distances to get here.
