Prof.
Katrina Watts
(B.A.) (Stokers Siding N.S.W. - AUSTRALIA) Bestowed with the Rank of Dame of the Order of Wisdom and Learning Nominated by her Peers and recognized by the Sovereign of the Principality of Hutt River for outstanding service to the sport of Sumo wrestling both in Japan & Australia as well as support provided world-wide.
A career teaching
English and modern languages at junior and high school in Australia led
Prof. Watts to Japan where she stayed for 25 years teaching English at a
private women's university. Working with amateur
sumo in Japan provided the opportunity to be involved, as an executive board
member, in the setting up of the Women's Sumo Federation. Although no longer a commentator for the television, Prof Watts remains deeply involved in a variety of sumo related activities at home and abroad including arena commentator at major tournaments world-wide and she remains a board member of the International Sumo Federation and is still the Continental Director for Oceania. Prof Watts has freely given a great deal of her time and energy for 35 years now, to the sport that she loves. Teaching others world-wide of the value and technical worth of the sport, bringing a relatively unknown sport and educating the public in general so that it becomes far better known.
Congratulations! |
