The RHR Silvertails "Hunting" team (i.e. on Mountain bikes) will once again be part of the Gibb River Challenge for 2014
 commencing Sunday 18th May 2014.

See http://www.thegibbchallenge.com.au/ for more info.

The Royal Hutt River Silvertails "Hunting" Team, led by Captain Andrew McMillan will again take part in this gruelling 700+ Km Mountain Bike, team relay mountain bike event, held in the rugged Kimberly region of Western Australia,
with the prime purpose being to raise funds for the Australian Royal Flying Doctor Service, a most vital service to all those who live in rural and Outback areas of Australia.

HRH Prince Leonard asks that you join him in strongly supporting this organisation by donating to this great service.

DAY 01
Good day. In the saddle with a 1st day win for the PHR!!

Gibb Challenge day one followed Gibb Challenge day zero.
Informed readers will be pleased to hear that the team meeting at the Spinnifex hotel played out almost exactly like last year with the RHRS team getting an early best on ground with a fine rendition of Helen Reddys 'I am woman' followed
by many other greats belted out in dulcet tones.

Firstly many thanks to our supporters who have helped the RHRS team raise over $11,000 for the
Royal Flying Doctor Service and the event has raised an overall total of over $400,000 already this year.

Also pretty good was the heroic effort put in by the team of mighty Joe Young , Wayne Chapman , Dr John Saul and myself
in jagging our inaugural day one best time ( ie WINNERS - yes I  know some may say its not a race macca).
We finished the 228km smashfest in about 8 hours, so we were pretty pleased with the preparation program
that we developed last year..........

Perfect conditions no wind, good cloud cover letter and a lot of team love made for a great day.

Tomorrow we have a seeded position in our ride to Ellenbrae station.

DAYs 02 & 03
Hard work & poor mobile phone connection...

Silvertails going well with a win recorded for day 02 and 2nd place on day 03 (2nd due to "fat boys" not very good on soft sand!)

Day 4 ahead with a gruelling 94km ride to Home Valley Station, hoping we hold on to # one!

DAY 04
The final timed day:..

Today's update is that the team has now reached 9th position on the donations table
with about $12,400 raised thus far - so thanks to our many supporters!

On the course today from Ellenbrae station to Home Valley Station the team rode well from the start
and after about 20 km of the 102km course RHRS were leading with the Pannawonica Patriots.

The two teams worked well together through all the tough sections and reached the final climb at the 90 km mark
where we let Chappy off the leash for a 5km piece and the PPs rider cracked just before the summit giving a 50 metre break for the 6km decent to Home Valley Station finish.
Well that's all we needed as all the training for the Kings Park "fat boys roll" came to the fore.
A handy 2 minute advantage at the finish line.

As tomorrow is an untimed stage to celebrate the event, it looks like the Royal Hutt River Silvertails
have got the chockies for overall best time in 2014!

Go the 'tails!!
