Final Quarter Report
October - December 2012:

   

 

Another year has drawn to a close and marks once again another successful volunteering year due to the efforts of all our members. I enclose report of the LFICC for October, November and December 2012.

Salvation Army "Christmas Kettles" - on 3 occasions during December members of the troop "manned" this post in the Tisdale Co-op

The Food Bank - 3 times the troop ran the Tisdale Food Distribution Centre.
On 10 occasions troop members collected food contributions from local stores for the Food Bank for distribution.

Medical car - 9 times local residents were transported for medical treatment to and from Edmonton, Melfort, Saskatoon and Nipawin.

Food catering duties were carried out 3 times for the Ridgedale pot luck suppers, once each for the following occasions:-
Ratner Fall Supper, Codette Pot Luck Supper, Sylvania Dinner Theatre.

21 volunteer duties were carried out at a local nursing home.

Helping Hands - Once again during this quarter members carried out 6 duties checking vacant property and feeding pets in the absence of their owners.
On 11 occasions a member assisted staff at a local Junior School helping children with reading difficulties.

Sylvania Annual "Turkey Shoot" - a member again assisted at this event.

Nipawin "Sales Day" - catering and door duties carried out at the local RCL Hall.

Annual Awards Day - Held in October in Ridgedale Seniors Hall; members who qualified for awards received them during the meeting.  (Photo's below).
Frontiersman of the Year Award was awarded to Lance Corporal Joyce Wilson.

Remembrance Day (11th November) - Members were present at the annual service in Tisdale and presented a wreath in memory of those had had given their all so that we might remain free. The roads were too icy for 5 of us to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony in Tisdale;  first time in over 20 years that I personally have not been able to attend!!!  Our representative Superintendent Steve Heward in Alberta did attend the ceremony in Fort Vermilion and he also presented our wreath (Photo below).

On 2 occasions Christmas Hampers were delivered to aged and infirm local residents.

At our last troop meeting prior to Christmas we held our Christmas Dinner served with all the trimmings!!!


We are all looking forward to service in 2013.

  Opening ceremony-- Superintendent Albert Hilliar and CC Barry Metcalfe   Corporal Elmer Vogt received  the Command Honour Badge for having completed 150 duties.
He also received  the O.I.O.M.
  Superintendent Candice Wallin receiving ---- Hallamshire Medal of Merit   Lance Corporal Joyce Wilson receiving ---- Hallamshire Medal of Merit  
         
  Commissioner Stella Spooner receiving the Commendable Service Bar and the Metcalfe Cross of Honour   Senior Sergeant Annabelle Hanson also received the O.I.O.M. and the Metcalfe Cross of Honour   Sergeant Wallace Hanson receiving the Metcalfe Cross of Honour and the O.I.O.M.   Superintendant Albert Hilliar received the Commendable Service Bar as well as the Metcalfe Cross of Honour
