A tribute and farewell to
RADM Dr
Sir Anthony From a friend:
Lord David P. Burkart, KGSRO A Personal Remembrance of "Z" The Principality of Hutt River has lost a loyal supporter and many of us in the PHR family around the world have lost a dear friend as we learned only a few days ago of the passing of Dr. Anthony G. Ziagos, Sr. on May 24, 2012 in his native Massachussets. I first crossed paths with Tony in the decade of the '90s, through our mutual interest and involvement in distance education and alternative medicine. He served on the faculty of several schools with which I was also associated and he and his wife, Diane had a counseling practice "Traditional Therapies". Tony held a Masters degree from Suffolk University and was a writer, editor and publisher as well as a real estate expert. He had a long time interest in international diplomacy and micronations and wrote and lectured on the subject. I introduced him to PHR about 2001 and he enthusiastically came aboard. He joined the RHRDF / Navy, rising to the rank of Rear Admiral and was elevated to The Royal Order in recognition of his contributions as Charge d' Affaires to New England as well as his coordination with U.S. Navy affiliated groups in New England that acknowledged him as a Naval Officer of PHR and extended greetings to Prince Leonard. Sir Anthony never missed an opportunity to educate Americans and others about Prince Leonard and the history and success of PHR, including writing and publishing articles in his regional newspaper. Sir Anthony was a person of faith, a lifelong member of the Orthodox Christian community who also extended the hand of friendship to all he knew, on the basis of shared humanity. In this spirit, he was invested as a Knight of the Order of St. Thomas of Acre, an independent international ecumenical society that promotes the ideals of chivalry. He was also a Fellow of the Center for Independent Studies at Miami, recognized by HRH Prince Leonard as a private research institution.
Sir Anthony will be sorely missed by all who knew him and I know they will
join me in extending belated condolences to his family. May he rest in Peace. |
